Swarovski Introduces New Collection Of Colored Synthetic Diamonds
Swarovski, the famous producer of precision-cut crystals, this week launched a new collection of lab-grown diamonds in 16 colors at the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, a clear challenge to De Beers' Lightbox brand of synthetic gemstones. The company in 2016 launched its Diama collections in the US, using synthetic diamonds, and entered the lab-grown market as producers in 2018 with its Swarovski Created Diamonds. Now Swarovski has expanded its offering to include what they are calling “the most extensive, sophisticated assortment of hues available on the global laboratory created diamond market today." The pricing of the colored stones has not been announced.
The fancy colors in the new collection are arranged according to four "pillars, each referencing one of the creative communities in which the company has always played a vital role: fashion, art, music and architecture." They say the colors in the collection pay homage to Swarovski’s history of mutually creative collaborations, and to the vision and innovation on which the brand’s heritage and enduring ingenuity is built upon. Each 'pillar' consists of four cushion-cut synthetic, led by a "hero" color – the boldest of the four. The lead color is available in a 2.5-carat size while the three associated colors are 1.25 carats each.
"Swarovski is probably most known for our precision-cut crystals, but as a company we are increasingly focused on exploring new materials and related technologies to offer our clients endless possibilities," said Markus Langes-Swarovski, Member of the Executive Board, in a statement. "I'd like to think that these stones have endless potential and are able to bring any idea to life," added Langes-Swarovski. "The colors, cuts and sizes are created to inspire jewelry that has never been made or even dreamed of. It's a toolbox of unlimited creativity."
Swarovski is certified by the Responsible Jewellery Council and says they work with mix of responsible materials including Fairtrade and recycled gold and responsibly sourced Swarovski Genuine Gemstones to offer consumers a conscious and informed choice.
